Hiatus

The blog shall be on a short hiatus over the next week or so due to a lot of the following. I'm literally counting down the days till my exams are over.

I've added labels(or tags as some people call them) to my all my posts and a little cloud of the labels at the bottom down the left hand side of my blog so you can easily look through certain sub-topics. I've also changed the 'top five blogs I ♥' so make sure to check them out, there's an interesting mix(Not that the previous blogs are any less interesting though).

In other blog news I've received the following blog award from Janice

Three(!) bloggers awarded me this one. (Toongen, BB & Cat)

And this lovely one was from Blaize

Thanks guys! I'm going to be a bit of a rebel and break the rules, I won't be filling out the 7 things about myself and I'm not going to be sending the awards out to 7 people. Instead I shall award the Kreativ Blogger award to one blog(as I believe awards are very special and should be handed out sparingly) and that is Kerri & Eva!

Quick Bento before I leave you all: chicken, avocado, cucumber and snow pea sprouts on cape seed bread with a couple of cherry tomatoes on the side. All in a collapsible sandwich bento box, which has vents out the sides so that your sandwich doesn't go all soggy.

Birthday

My birthday is coming up soon, October the 8th to be precise. Been brainstorming a wishlist:

I'm not sure whether instead of having lots of little items I should just get one big thing, the big thing being a pocket video camera for $250

I can't believe that they've managed to cram a good quality camcorder into such a small device and it's in my absolute favourite colour - yellow! We've been without a camcorder for years and this one looks excellent plus is really easy to use and is very transportable. I'd finally be able to document my life and upload videos to YouTube plus edit clips like crazy. I think I might actually sacrifice the small items for the camcorder. I shall have to ponder...

This week I've been selecting fabrics to have my dad's dining chairs re-upholstered. He refuses to buy new dining chairs as you can't buy any with armrests anymore so he instead is going to fork out extra cash to get them all fixed up. I guess it'll be more envornmentally friendly though, which is always good. My dad's hopeless with colours so he's letting me pick out the fabric, I'll probably go with the green vine fabric, a nice earthy/neutral look to it so it'll go with everything. We might even get the couch done in matching fabric and have cushions made with the plain green fabric.

From time to time I'll be posting my bento lunch efforts which in the beginning won't be anything fancy but I have to start somewhere.

Instead of using bulky insulated lunch bags I just wrap a piece of cloth(an old bandana in my case) around my lunchbox and icepack. I find it works just as well and fits much easier in my bag.

Bento

Something you all have yet to know about me is that I love bento and bento boxes. If you don't know what bentos are then you really are missing out. They are basically just small lunchboxes and you fill them completely with food, usually cooked items and things like rice. They originate from Japan and everybody there has a bento everyday and theirs are usually very appealing to the eye. I first fell in love with Bentos when I came across this lovely lady's blog:Lunch in a Box. The blog's author, Biggie has written basically everything you need to know to start bento-ing, she's a genius. She really needs to write a book about it!

I myself haven't made many bentos before but here is the one I had today:

The bento box is a double tiered one and the lower container had a pumpkin & ricotta gourmet roll(bought at my local deli) and ketchup in a sauce container in it. The upper container had a little salad of snow pea sprouts, cucumber, cherry tomatoes and coriander. Yummy! I'm going to have the rest of the sausage roll tomorrow.

In other news, I went to China last year with my school and I took lots and lots of photos. I recently got round(a year later :D) to getting the photos printed but when I went to put them on a USB, the photos just came up as a black screen with "invalid image" on them. I was freaking out, I couldn't find any way to retrive them. But luckily I found I still have most of them on my camera memory card. Now I just have to re-edit all 800+ of them......Gotta love technology.
